What It Takes to do the Job
Public Works Truck
The primary work vehicle is the truck that holds the tools needed for routine repairs, has 4 wheel drive to deal with the bad weather and swampy areas, and is heavy duty enough to tow the jetter and various trailered equipment.
Sewer Jetter
The sewer jetter is a basic piece of equipment used to clear blockages and for routine maintenance. It clears sewer lines by working a high pressure nozzle through the sewer line, driven by a powerful diesel engine.
Tractor and Bush Hog
Many of the 25 miles of sewer lines are in swampy, wooded areas surrounding the Town. It is mandated by the state that rights of way must be kept clear of plant growth so that roots will not damage lines and regular inspections can be made. The 4 wheel drive Kioti tractor allows crews to use a large bush hog to accomplish this. Attachments like a snowplow blade extend its utility to a variety of jobs.
JCB Backhoe
The backhoe is the workhorse of the maintenance department and used for digging up lines for repairs, loading heavy materials, and makes it possible for the small staff to accomplish major repairs.
