Position Title:  Public Works Maintenance Worker

Department:  Public Works

Salary Range:  Based on experience ($13 to $16/hour)

Hours: 7:00 to 4:00, M-F

Minimum Requirements:  High school diploma or GED.  Valid NC Drivers License with a good driving record.  Ability to perform manual labor.  Ability to use hand/power tools.  Familiar with the operation of lawnmower, power edger, commercial leaf vacuum/blower, commercial street sweeper, chainsaw, pole saw, string trimmer, tractor, and bushhog.  Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs. frequently, and occasionally 75 lbs.  Ability to work in outdoor environments which include extreme hot and cold conditions.  Ability to work in extreme wet, muddy, and dusty environments.  Ability to meet all safety program requirements. 

Position Primary Duties:  Performs skilled and unskilled manual labor in the repair, maintenance, and cleaning up of Town streets, sidewalks, facilities, cemetery, and park.  This includes tree pruning or removal, picking up debris from street curbside, mowing and trimming grass in Town maintained areas, sidewalk maintenance, watering, shrubbery bed maintenance, sign repair, dog waste station maintenance, loose leaves removal from curbside, and curb and gutter maintenance.  Assists with Wastewater Treatment Plant machinery and grounds maintenance.  Assists with sewer lift station maintenance.  Assists with water and sewer line installation, repair, and maintenance.  Assists with maintenance of water and sewer main right of ways. Will perform other work as directed by Public Works Director.

Position Secondary Duties:  Assists with household garbage pickup when needed.
